Independent Midwifery

Independent midwifery care offers you a level of support, continuity, and personal attention that goes far beyond standard maternity services. It is relationship-based, holistic care that centres your wellbeing, your autonomy, and your unique experience of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.

With an independent midwife, you receive dedicated one-to-one care from someone who knows you deeply, understands your preferences, and is there to support you through every stage — emotionally, physically, and practically.

Why Families Choose Independent Midwifery

Families choose independent midwifery because it offers genuine continuity and a trusted relationship with the same midwife throughout their journey. Appointments are longer, unhurried, and centred entirely around you, creating space for meaningful conversation, emotional support, and thorough clinical care. Your care is fully personalised — shaped by your needs, preferences, history, and the vision you have for your pregnancy and birth. With a holistic approach that considers your emotional wellbeing, your recovery, your partner’s needs, and your baby’s development, independent midwifery nurtures the whole family. You are supported with clear information, compassionate advocacy, and complete autonomy every step of the way, ensuring your decisions are respected and your experience is grounded in safety, dignity, and informed choice.
